iTunes Library - Fallen Angels – Black Veil Brides

To me, Tom is an aggressive, angry and violent child. But i do believe that he is this way for a reason. In The House of The Scorpions, Tom is said to be an outcast, not many people like him and his own father frowns upon him. I believed that this song suited Tom because it is about out casts doing what they want. We think that Tom is the way he is because people do not understand him or try to and this song seemed to suit by talking about how no one listens and no one cares so they must take matters into there own hands, the same way Tom feels.

iTunes Library - Everything About You – Ugly Kid Joe

Tom and Matt, complete opposites and can’t stand each other. This song, and the lyrics jumped of the page screaming “TOM AND MATT TOM AND MATT!” This song talks about how he hates EVERYTHING about him. His family, what he does etc. This fits Tom perfectly because Tom absolutely cannot stand Matt. He wants to get rid of him and wants him gone out of his life. And this song talks about that and every other feeling Tom has about Matt.

iTunes Library - Liars and Monsters – Escape The Fate

This song is about how someone thinks they are worthless, they lie and there a monster, they are ashamed of who they are but they can’t change. I believe that this song suits Tom because I know that somewhere in his heart he knows what he does is wrong and he hates himself for it. People look at him as a monster and I know that at one point or another he will or has looked at himself that way as well. Somewhere he believes that he is doing terrible things but also he doesn’t understand how to stop, or why he should.

iTunes Library - All I Want – A Day To Remember

I chose this song for Tom because of some lyrics that really jumped out to me. When I heard this song I thought that it sounded like something Tom would listen to but after looking up the lyrics I found something very specific to show how or why i would see Tom listening to it.

The lyrics “Still got something left to prove” to me, fit Tom perfectly. Tom, in my eyes is very self-conscious of his background, how his mother betrayed his father. This makes him feel as though he has to prove something to the people around him. Like just because his family isn’t the same as everyone else’s he can still be on the top and he can still be the top dog.

iTunes Library - A Prophecy – Asking Alexandria

I chose this song for a very specific reason. To a lot of people, music is an escape. It can give your life meaning when you feel as though nothing else does and it can pull you out of your lowest lows. The lyrics in this song talk about coming out on top. It talks about how no matter how bad the scars are, there will always be something better. I think that Tom would have listened to that song for the simplicity of it being an escape to him. Showing him that there are reasons why he is here and no matter how bad things get there is always something worth living for. Yes, Tom in this book, is aggressive and violent and rude and arrogant and everything else you can think of, but I do believe that this has to do with his up bringing. In the beginning of the book Tom was punished more then others because he was doing things to seek attention. Now that he knows he can get attention by doing inappropriate or bad things, he does them more often and to more of an extent. In the end, Tom is not a bad child, he just seeks attention. This causes him to get into further trouble with his parents, creating this aggression that he takes out in hatred towards other people, like Matt and Maria. 

I Hate Everything About You - Three Days Grace
This song was chosen because of the fact of how much he hates Matt. The verses don't show it as much, and the chorus asks "Why do I love you?" That part I didn't find quite appropriate seeing as this is a couple's song. This would also relate to Toms and Maria's relashonship and how Matt fell into it. This song is great because it shows the inner rage inside of Toms. Thinking about the acoustics of the song it could fit Tom's mind perfectly.

Never Too Late - Three Days Grace
I chose this song because I feel like it's Tom's mind talking to him from the inside. Like he doesnt belong. Like he is an outcast since Matts arrival. It also talks about how his mother betrayed his father because even after that Tom is pushing. This song follows the same style as the first because I think Tom has so much rage built inside of him that this playlist should talk about that. I didn't know what songs to pick, than after seeing what he tries to do to Matt and Maria. I felt like talking about this.

Down With The Sickness - Disturbed
I chose this song because I feel like Tom thinks Matt is the sickness and so it's Toms job to talk him down. This song follows the genre of the first two because I felt like he needs to get his inner emotions out in the form of rage. I think that he thinks Matt is disgusting and there for is the analogy to the sickness.

Voices - Crown The Empire
I thought this song fit perfectly to Tom. It shows his sence of insecurity and once again, his inner voice talking to him. To elaborate, I think this song is awesome because when it says "I feel like my life is in danger." That, is how Tom feels in the exact same way. Threatened by Matt.

Second Chance - Shinedown
I feel this was also a perfect song for Tom because I feel like Tom has something missing from himself, an empty void inside himself, and jealous of Matt. This song is a lot more depressing because I feel like giving a chance for Tom. Like he just has something empty from him and that he's not that bad of a teenager. That he has reasons for what he did. About that empty void in his life this song corresponds perfectly because of it.
